Prelude No. 1 is the piano composition that I wrote and preformed for my Cleveland School of the Arts audition. The piece was written the summer between my transition from St. Ignatius to the Cleveland School of the Arts.
Prelude No. 1 presents two different themes, one reoccurring, while the other is heard only once. The second time the reoccurring theme is heard it is transposed, written in a different key signature from the original. The second theme, heard only once, is positioned at the end of the piece. Compiled of strings of legato sixteenth notes the intentional placement, at the end, allows for a distinct closing of the piece.
The score seen in the background of the cover for Prelude No.1 is a silhouette of the original score. With the exception, of removing random selections from the score for none other then graphic reasons.
