Education

The Cleveland School of the Arts is a speciality arts school in the Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD) that incorporates all aspects of arts into its teaching approach.

The transition to The Cleveland School of the Arts from St. Ignatius was a smooth one. I began in the fall as a sophomore.

All schools I had attended, up until then, were on the western side of Cleveland, this is where my family was residing at the time. This demographic contrast presented a significant adjustment relative to my standard commute to and from school. CSA was located on the far east side of Cleveland. My only option was to take public transportation that required use of both bus and rail services. The commute each day, on average, summed a couple of hours. And because all students were required to take general education courses, as well as speciality ones, our school hours were longer than other schools.

Though such inconveniences prevented me from having as much free time as the average teenager, the musical opportunities that were offered to me while attending CSA was well worth the sacrifice.
