Placement

Since CSA did not offer music composition as a major, though the school was able to provide me with composition lessons, I was confronted with the question of what I would declare as a major. The school's academic advisor recommended a music performance major after hearing a brief background of my musical training. Although piano was my major instrument of study, piano performance was not my strongest area.

The school set up a meeting with the band director to see where I could potentially be placed. The band director was excited to inform me that he had an open position for an orchestral percussion player. I accepted his offer and began my first term learning how to read, play, and tune orchestral percussion instruments such as the timpani drums as well as others.
