Change Lyric Video Explained (Chorus and Bridge)

The chorus presents one of the most significant animations. The transition from the black background to the skin background on the word CHANGE. This is another example of the animation being literal.

The last phrase of the chorus then goes on to mirror the first three phrases in fonts, however they are the opposite in color. This was done to illustrate what change may look like from the perspective of the individual singing. Those more important words are now white and those less important words are now colored. Meaning that the individual singing does not view change in a positive light.

The I CAN’T HOLD IT BACK phrase, first seen in the beginning of the second chorus, gradually enlarges in size, giving the effect of pushing forward. This was done to illustrate that the individual singing is unable to hold back change. This phrase is first seen horizontally, however, in the bridge and final chorus it is seen vertically. This was done to illustrate the actual placement within the stereo spectrum. The phrase is seen to the right when the lyrics are panned to the right ear and seen to the left when panned to the left ear.

The final chorus introduces the remaining two vocal layers. First, the entire Change Lyric Video is seen stenciled through the lyrics EVERYTHING CHANGES. This give the illusion that things are changing fast now that the individual singing has realized that change is inevitable.

Second the harmonization on the lyrics “CHANGE IS FOR THE BEST THEY CLAIM, BUT I’LL COMPLAIN, THAT IT ISN’T FOR” is divided. This was done to illustrate one’s new perspective being higher than or above one’s old perspective. However the final lyric “ME” is seen once again united. This was done to allow the listener to decide which perspective the individual singing or the listener himself or herself will choose to embrace.
