Returning home after living weeks independently was an initial adjustment, though I quickly channeled all secondary energy into the creative process. I was creatively charged by the overall experience of California Summer Music, excited to utilize all the instruction I had absorbed throughout Mr. Lewis' lectures and the many master classes I had attended.
I decided it was a perfect opportunity to begin writing a new composition. Considering the level of inspiration I was experiencing, I foresaw a turning point in my writing style. I can't quite pinpoint when or how I determine what instruments will be including in a composition, such a decision is out of my hands, on some level. I usually begin the writing process by acting on a melody heard in my head, this is not always the case as sometimes I may feel out a theme merely by hand, though more times then not, such a process is the case mentioned prior.
For this particular composition I recall that I had used the subsequent process, feeling out the theme by hand, determining, very early on, that it was to be a piano solo piece. As thus was the dawning of my Prelude No. 2
