As the weeks passed without word from the school's board I tried desperately to keep my mind distracted by absorbing myself in my studies. Such an approach soon proved to be ineffective as time seemed to move at an agonizingly decelerated speed. Because this was the first time I had experienced the application process, relative to a music camp, it was not certain what I should expect.
Ms. Richardson, however, was optimistic and assured me that such a process takes time. The board would have to review all applications, letters of recommendations and portfolios prior to sending notification of acceptance or declination. She encouraged me to begin composing a new work in the event that I receive an acceptance letter, from the board, sometime in the near future. I followed her suggestion and began writing a piano duo, for piano and violin.
