The Application

Ms. Richardson, the director of strings, was well aware of my passion for music composition. With this in mind, she made certain to recommend, to me, any program she discovered which may potentially help advance my abilities as a developing composer.

Durning my first term as a cello performance major, Ms. Richardson was informed of a summer camp exclusively held for students studying string performance or music composition. Although, at the time, I was a string performance major, as I have stated before, performance is not my strongest quality. Never the less Ms. Richardson encouraged me to apply as a composition applicant. She informed me that if I was interested she would make arrangements to secure an application for me.

In the weeks to follow, Ms. Richardson closely supervised me in the completion of application process. She suggested that I begin to assemble a portfolio which included several of my strongest works, up to date. She then explained that I would need two letters of recommendation, luckily because I was currently studying music composition with Donald Erb such a task was not overwhelming.

Once I had gathered all materials necessary, Ms. Richardson secured the application and it's contents in a large parcel envelope. After taking the initiative of addressing and delivering the bulging packet to the post office, She returned assuring me that the next step was to patiently wait for word form the school.
