Because the Cleveland School of the Arts is a Cleveland speciality school, a separate department is dedicated to managing donations, to the school, for gifted students lacking adequate finances.
Although I had received a full scholarship to attend California Summer Music, transportation to and from the school was not provided. Thus, it was arranged for me to meet with the Friends of the Cleveland School of the Arts to discuss the funding of my travel accommodations.
Upon arrival at the office, I was greeted by a soft spoken women with salt and pepper ear length hair. I was vaguely familiar with the individuals who made up the department, however this was my first time independently interacting with a staff member.
She sat me down in a chair almost parallel to hers facing a small desk positioned in the near left corner, from the entrance, of the room. She then began to asked me several questions both relative to arrangements for transportation as well as details on the camp itself. When the women realized a half an hour had passed, in her excitement to absorb details regrading such an accomplishment, she recommended I return to class, since I had been given permission, by Ms. Richardson, to leave stringed orchestra rehearsal to initiate arrangements for travel accommodations. As I stood in the doorway facing the hallway, the women once again declared, in her distinctive soft spoken tone, that she would immediately begin looking for a roundtrip ticket as well as any other necessary travel accommodations. I turned around, once again facing her, smiling at the thought of her unmistakable enthusiasm and, once again too, expressed my gratitude for all her efforts.
