After realizing that my first choice for high school was not a good match for me, I began to explore my options. I was aware that a fellow student from elementary school had left pre middle school to attend a specialty art school.
When I contacted the admissions office I was told that all students must audition prior to acceptance to the school. Since my main instrument was piano I decided that would write and perform a prelude for piano.
Upon arrival at the school my mother and I were directed to the third floor. We then parted when the director called me for my audition. I was extremely nervous as I didn't consider myself much of a performer. I entered a room with a black grand piano and the director shut the door behind us. He asked me what I had prepared and I told him that I was to perform a piano prelude that I composed.
Within, what had seemed like a flash, I had finished performing the piece and was be congratulated on my acceptance to the school.
