Personal Solution Set

As the years have progressed I have come to develop my own personal solution set specific to digital music composition. I find it easier to draw from my own personal solution set as too many choices can be overwhelming.

All my life I have been very fond of numbers. This is fitting as many will confirm that music and mathematics go hand in hand. My solution set is compiled of those numbers that are a fourth of any number within the base 10 numbering system. This is effective, as I am especially fond of those numbers ending in 0 or 5. I begin by dividing the number 1 into fourths and then converting the four possible quotients into decimal form. This allows me to work with numbers such as .25, .50, .75, and 1.00. When evaluating the primary number, prior to the decimal point, I prefer to use those numbers closest to a 1/4th of the number 10. Example: a 1/4th of 10 is 2.50, 2/4ths of 10 is 5.00, 3/4ths of 10 is 7.50. I used the term "closest to" because I will allow the decimal part that follows a primary number to be a 1/4th of 1. Example: 2.25, 2.50, 2.75 and so forth.

I am well aware that my personal solution set has limitations as not all audio devices allow one to use such precision. Despite it's shortcomings, my personal solution set has significantly reduced time spent mixing and mastering within the digital audio workstation. Ultimately freeing up time for me to focus my attention on the creative aspect of the musical production experience.
