The Shining

As California Summer Music drew near to a end, the realization that those individuals who had become a part of my life, while at camp, were temporary.

Considering my absence from Mr. Lewis' final lecture I knew that the remaining encounters with him were limited. I was informed by my fellow composition classmates that we were to report to the auditorium classroom that Friday evening to polish up our scores, making sure all sheet music was legible for the performers.

As I walked to the auditorium classroom that evening, I soaked in the environment with a sadly nostalgic perspective.

Upon entrance of the auditorium I noticed a large television positioned where Mr. Lewis typically positioned himself when giving lecture. Once all students had taken their seats in the first row, Mr. Lewis announced that we would be watching Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. My fellow classmates began to cheer, expressing their extreme enthusiasm. I, however, was not as enthusiastic due to my unfamiliarity with the film.

So I sat there only 5% focused on the project at hand, polishing up my final score, morbidly fascinated, in the company of my newly made, temporary, friends.
