After basking in the clouded sun for several hours, I made my way back to campus grounds, knowing that I was to report to Mr Lewis for rehearsal. I stopped at my dormitory to change into to something more suitable for rehearsal, only to realize that, although the majority of the time spent at the beach the sun was overcast, I was terribly sunburn. I quickly slabbed mass amounts of aloe vera on the effected areas of my skin.
I just barely arrived, seconds before the hour, at the prearranged practice room for rehearsal. I was greeted by Mr. Lewis, who then introduced me to the pianist, Michael, a graduate from The Juilliard School, and violinist, Juliana, a graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Music, who were to perform my piano duo. I was unfamiliar with this particular practice room and vividly remember, being impressed by, the amount of light that filtered into the room through the large windows that occupied the eastern wall of the room. In the center of the room was a large black grand piano, where Michael had already taken his seat and standing to the right of him was Juliana, violin and bow in hand.
Rehearsal was nothing more then my distracted approval of the performers interpretation of my piano duo as I tried desperately to hide the agony I was experiencing, relative to my sunburn and the extreme stickiness I had induced relative to me coating myself in aloe vera.
Though I must admit that just for a moment I was able to put aside my discomfort and was awestruck by the polarity between my electronic draft and the true acoustic experience.
