At the beginning of my eighth year at Ascension elementary school we were instructed to prepare for our transition into high school by applying to several schools of choice. At that point in my life I was unsure of the direction I wanted to take, so I made the undemanding choice and applied to St. Ignatius, the high school that my older brother was currently attending.
St. Ignatius High School is a four-year boys Catholic and Jesuit college preparatory high school. My choices were limited, as the the same rule applied, as with elementary school, that required us to attend a catholic institution.
Shortly after the commencement of fall classes I discovered that St. Ignatius was not the best fit for me. The school prided itself in academic and athletic preparation, however my interest lied in music and the arts. At the time, the school lacked the tools necessary to provide me with a academic foundation in the arts. Such a significant discrepancy provoked me to rethink my initial decision and face the inevitable transfer to another high school that was able to provide me with an environment rich in musical studies.
